Forum governance
Just wanted to reiterate my idea that if things really do get up and running here, it would be cool to have some structure in place for dealing with trolling.
I don't want it to be Joe's forum where I rule with an iron fist. Not because I don't see myself as monarchical. Of course I do. But I do like the idea of a Star Chamber or Security Council made up of three or four or five people who would confer and vote if it seems someone perhaps ought to be shown the door.
It's possible that this little experiment will die and it won't be necessary. But if it should grow, I've no doubt that some mechanism will be necessary.
I'm also thinking that we should perhaps have a penalty box for people who abuse the emoticons...

Joe
Your avator does look a bit serious. Also, are you looking for a contribution to help defray cost? Let me know.
Also, please delay the penalty box on the Emoticons until I have made my way all the way through them. I have never used them before so, this is like getting my first BB gun.

I meant to mention this, stihl
The cost for Lindisfarne is zero. It's free. Totally costless.
I have no idea how that's possible, but there it is. I figured there would at the very least be an advertising bar or something, but there isn't even that so far as I can tell.
So I did indeed come in under budget. Ninety minutes of dinking around, and the place was more or less finished. Half of that was making the Lindisfarne graphic and picking out my grim avatar.

I like the idea of a small group
But, I think we should call it the High Council or the Holy Inquisition. I'm leaning toward the latter. Or maybe the Interplanetary Federation? Whatever you like.
And yeah, you do look a bit scary, Joe. Almost John Wesleyan.... In a good way, though....

Can we take turns being Grand Inquisitor?
As a Roman Catholic, it's always been a dream of mine to be a Grand Inquisitor!!

Maybe the Spanish Inquisition...
wouldn't have gotten such a bad wrap if the Inquisitors were wearing happy face paper bags. Just make sure you use the "comfy chair". "Nobody expected the Spanish Inquistion." monty python.
